Direct Drive ~ A DJ Program for Tomorrow’s Future
Every child deserves a chance to succeed in life and with the Direct Drive long term mentorship DJ program a chance is what they are given.
With the assistance of our expert instructors, who care deeply about their community and the future of the next generation, we are able to provide individualized weekly DJ lessons to 24 deserving youth starting September 2016. Our program will provide these youth with the chance to connect with professional, caring and experienced Mentoring Musicians and learn how to create and compose music of their very own, while at the same time exploring the elements of various careers within the Hip Hop industry as a whole. Through this process of music exploration, youth will build confidence and a sense of accomplishment in their new abilities.
We encourage these young people to stay on a positive life path, complete their schooling, work towards achieving personalized goals, and utilize music as a healthy release and form of personal expression. Our program focuses on the exploration of Hip Hop, with a positive message - “Conscious Rap”, a sub-genre of Hip Hop that focuses on creating awareness and imparting knowledge. It is propelled by the conviction that social change comes through knowledge of self and personal discovery. Conscious rappers traditionally decry / condemn violence, discrimination, and other societal ailments.
We know that youth who will be offered this unique and exciting opportunity are faced with some extreme challenges, and personal circumstances that make extra circular activities such as this virtually impossible. Following are some of the unique components of our program:
We do everything we can to ensure that the youth experience success, as this program is designed to relieve stress and minimize anxiety. We believe that bringing the program to where youth are is a crucial element of our program’s success, making it possible for youth to commit and regularly attend.
Music has been scientifically proven to elevate one’s mood, improve cognitive performance, relieve symptoms of depression, enhance blood vessel function, improve sleep quality, reduce stress and anxiety as well as help individuals to perform better in high pressure situations. Playing a musical instrument has been shown to increase memory capacity, refine time management capacities / organizational skills, encourage perseverance and resiliency, enhance coordination, increase responsibility, promote social skills, teach discipline, sharpen concentration and foster self expression while promoting happiness in ourselves and those around us. The Legacy Children’s Foundation Direct Drive DJ Program will provide youth in need with a unique musical and mentoring experience that might very well change the course of their lives.

- We provide professional instructors and access to all the equipment
- We bring the studio to the youth
- We provide Individualized weekly lessons
